I came up with this idea during a recent elk hunt in Arizona. My tag was for an antlerless elk in a “limited opportunity” area. Meaning there are a low number of elk and the ones that do live there are quite mobile.
This got me to thinking about how much of a limited opportunity this hunt really was. First of all you have a very limited chance of even drawing an elk tag in Arizona, even a cow tag. Secondly, with the way my schedule fell apart at the end of the summer, I missed the first two weeks of the hunt due to work obligations. Limiting me even more.
All these limits got me to thinking about how most of the adventures we hunters go on are all about the limited opportunities we get. Whether it be that once in a lifetime Desert Bighorn Sheep tag or the hours spent in a blind or treestand waiting for that one instant when everything falls perfectly into place and you get that perfect shot.
I hope you enjoy following me as I document the limited opportunities that make up my sporting lifestyle.
